Surah Taha — Verse 44

Ta-Ha · 20:44 · 44/135

فَقُولَا لَهُۥ قَوْلًا لَّيِّنًا لَّعَلَّهُۥ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَىٰ

Faqoola lahu qawlan layyinanlaAAallahu yatathakkaru aw yakhsha

Verse recitation

Translations of this verse 7

Saheeh International

And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allāh]."

M.A.S. Abdel Haleem

Speak to him gently so that he may take heed, or show respect.’

Marmaduke Pickthall

And speak unto him a gentle word, that peradventure he may heed or fear.

Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"But speak to him mildly; perchance he may take warning or fear (Allah)."

So speak to him in soft words. May be, he accepts the advice or fears (Allah)”.
