Surah At-Tawbah — Verse 102
The Repentance · 9:102 · 102/129
وَءَاخَرُونَ ٱعْتَرَفُوا۟ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ خَلَطُوا۟ عَمَلًا صَـٰلِحًا وَءَاخَرَ سَيِّئًا عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Waakharoona iAAtarafoo bithunoobihimkhalatoo AAamalan salihan waakharasayyi-an AAasa Allahu an yatooba AAalayhim inna Allahaghafoorun raheem
Translations of this verse 7
Saheeh International
And [there are] others who have acknowledged their sins. They had mixed [i.e., polluted] a righteous deed with another that was bad. Perhaps Allāh will turn to them in forgiveness. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

And there are others who have confessed their wrongdoing, who have done some righteous deeds and some bad ones: God may well accept their repentance, for God is most forgiving and merciful.

And (there are) others who have acknowledged their faults. They mixed a righteous action with another that was bad. It may be that Allah will relent toward them. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Abul A'la Maududi (Tafhim)
[9:102] There are others who have confessed their faults. They intermixed their good deeds with evil. It is likely that Allah will turn to them in mercy, for Allah is All- Forgiving, Ever Merciful.

قال تعالى: {وَآخَرُونَ اعْتَرَفُوا بِذُنُوبِهِمْ خَلَطُوا عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَآخَرَ سَيِّئًا عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ (102)} [التوبة: 102].
211 - عن ابن عباس -رضي الله عنهما-: قوله: {وَآخَرُونَ اعْتَرَفُوا بِذُنُوبِهِمْ خَلَطُوا عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَآخَرَ سَيِّئًا} قال: كانوا عشرة رهط تخلفوا عن النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - في غزوة تبوك، فلما حضر رجوع النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم -، أوثق سبعة منهم أنفسهم بسواري المسجد، وكان ممر النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - إذا رجع في المسجد عليهم، فلما رآهم قال: "من هؤلاء الموثقون أنفسهم بالسواري؟ " قالوا: هذا أبو لبابة وأصحاب له تخلفوا عنك يا رسول الله حتى تطلقهم وتعذرهم، فقال النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم -: "وأنا أقسم بالله لا أطلقهم ولا أعذرهم حتى يكون الله هو الذي يطلقهم، رغبوا عني وتخلفوا عن الغزو مع المسلمين"، فلما بلغهم ذلك، قالوا: ونحن نقسم بالته لا نطلق أنفسنا حتى يكون الله الذي يطلقنا، فأنزل الله تبارك وتعالى: {وَآخَرُونَ اعْتَرَفُوا بِذُنُوبِهِمْ خَلَطُوا عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَآخَرَ سَيِّئًا عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ}، و"عسى" من الله واجب، فلما نزلت أرسل إليهم النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - فأطلقهم وعذرهم ¬أخرجه ابن جرير في التفسير: 11/ 12 - 13، والبيهقي في الدلائل. 5/ 272.
والحديث صحيح لشواهده، فقد جاء عن جابر بن عبد الله -رضي الله عنهما-، وعزاه السيوطي في لباب النقول: ص 124 لأبي الشيخ وابن منده، وقال: إسناده قوي، ومن مرسل قتادة عند ابن جرير الطبري بإسناد صحيح، ومن مرسل الزهري عند عبد الرزاق في التفسير: 1/ 254 برقم: 1123 وإسناده حسن ..¥.
