Surah Muhammad — Verse 13

وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ هِىَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِّن قَرْيَتِكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ
Wakaayyin min qaryatin hiya ashaddu quwwatanmin qaryatika allatee akhrajatka ahlaknahum fala nasiralahum
Translations of this verse 7
Saheeh International
And how many a city was stronger than your city [i.e., Makkah] which drove you out? We destroyed them; and there was no helper for them.
M.A.S. Abdel Haleem
We have destroyed many a town stronger than your own [Prophet]- the town which [chose to] expel you- and they had no one to help them.
Marmaduke Pickthall
And how many a township stronger than thy township (O Muhammad) which hath cast thee out, have We destroyed, and they had no helper!
Abdullah Yusuf Ali
And how many cities, with more power than thy city which has driven thee out, have We destroyed (for their sins)? and there was none to aid them.

How many a town, stronger in might than your town that has expelled you, have We destroyed! Then, there was none to help them.

And many a town, stronger than your town (Makkah) (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) which has driven you out We have destroyed. And there was none to help them.
Abul A'la Maududi (Tafhim)
(O Prophet), how many are the cities that had greater power than your city that drove you out? We destroyed them and there was none to protect them.

سورة محمد
قال تعالى: {وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ هِيَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِنْ قَرْيَتِكَ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ (13)} [محمد: 13].
275 - عن ابن عباس -رضي الله عنهما-: أن النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- لما خرج من مكة إلى الغار وأتاه، فالتفت إلى مكة، وقال: "أنتِ أحبُّ بلاد الله إلى الله، وأنت أحب بلاد الله إلي، ولولا أن المشركين أخرجوني لم أخرج منك "، فأعدى الأعداء من عدا على الله تعالى في حرمه، أو قتل غير قاتله، أو قتل بذحول الجاهلية، فأنزل الله تعالى على نبيه -صلى الله عليه وسلم-: {وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ هِيَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِنْ قَرْيَتِكَ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ (13)} ¬أخرجه ابن جرير: 26/ 48، وأبو يعلى برقم: 2662، وزاد عزوه في الدر: 6/ 48 لعبد بن حميد وابن أبي حاتم وابن مردويه. والحديث صحيح لغيره.¥.
