Surah Al-Hajj — Verse 39
The Pilgrimage · 22:39 · 39/78
أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَـٰتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا۟ ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ نَصْرِهِمْ لَقَدِيرٌ
Othina lillatheena yuqataloonabi-annahum thulimoo wa-inna Allaha AAalanasrihim laqadeer
Translations of this verse 7
Saheeh International
Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allāh is competent to give them victory.

Those who have been attacked are permitted to take up arms because they have been wronged- God has the power to help them-

Sanction is given unto those who fight because they have been wronged; and Allah is indeed Able to give them victory;

قال تعالى: {أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى نَصْرِهِمْ لَقَدِيرٌ (39)} [الحج: 39].
234 - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ -رضي الله عنه- قَالَ: لَمَّا أُخْرِجَ النَّبِيُّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- مِنْ مَكَّةَ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرِ: أَخْرَجُوا نَبِيَّهُمْ، إِنَّا لله وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، لَيَهْلِكُنَّ، فَنَزَلَتْ: {أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى نَصْرِهِمْ لَقَدِيرٌ (39)}، قَالَ: فَعُرِفَ أَنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ قِتَالٌ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسِ، هِيَ أَوَّلُ آيَة نَزَلَتْ فِي الْقِتَالِ. واللفظ للترمذي ¬أخرجه الترمذي برقم: 3171، والنسائي في التفسير برقم: 365، والصغرى برقم: 3075، والكبرى برقم: 11345، 4292، وابن حبان برقم: 4710، وأحمد: 1/ 216 برقم: 1865، وابن جرير: 17/ 172، والحاكم: 3/ 7، 66، 246، 390، والبيهقي في السنن: 9/ 10، والدلائل: 2/ 294، والطبراني في الكبير برقم: 12336، والأوائل برقم: 30، وصححه الحاكم ووافقه الذهبي، وأحمد شاكر، وزاد عزوه في الدر المنثور: 4/ 363 - 364 لعبد الرزاق وعبد بن حميد وابن ماجه والبزار وابن المنذر وابن أبي حاتم وابن مردويه.¥.
