Surah Al-Baqarah — Verse 198

لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَبْتَغُوا۟ فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۚ فَإِذَآ أَفَضْتُم مِّنْ عَرَفَـٰتٍ فَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عِندَ ٱلْمَشْعَرِ ٱلْحَرَامِ ۖ وَٱذْكُرُوهُ كَمَا هَدَىٰكُمْ وَإِن كُنتُم مِّن قَبْلِهِۦ لَمِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
Laysa AAalaykum junahun an tabtaghoofadlan min rabbikum fa-itha afadtum minAAarafatin fathkuroo Allaha AAindaalmashAAari alharami wathkuroohu kamahadakum wa-in kuntum min qablihi lamina addalleen

Saheeh International
There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord [during ḥajj]. But when you depart from ʿArafāt, remember Allāh at al-Mashʿar al-Ḥarām. And remember Him, as He has guided you, for indeed, you were before that among those astray.

but it is no offence to seek some bounty from your Lord. When you surge down from Arafat remember God at the sacred place. Remember Him: He has guided you. Before that you were astray.
Marmaduke Pickthall
It is no sin for you that ye seek the bounty of your Lord (by trading). But, when ye press on in the multitude from 'Arafat, remember Allah by the sacred monument. Remember Him as He hath guided you, although before ye were of those astray.
Abdullah Yusuf Ali
It is no crime in you if ye seek of the bounty of your Lord (during pilgrimage). Then when ye pour down from (Mount) Arafat, celebrate the praises of Allah at the Sacred Monument, and celebrate His praises as He has directed you, even though, before this, ye went astray.
Mufti Taqi Usmani
There is no sin on you that you seek the grace of your Lord (by trading). Later, when you flow down from ‘Arafāt, recite the name of Allah near Al-Mash‘ar-ul-Harām (the Sacred Monument), and recite His name as He has guided you, while before it, you were among the astray.
Al-Hilali & Khan
There is no sin on you if you seek the Bounty of your Lord (during pilgrimage by trading). Then when you leave ‘Arafât, remember Allâh (by glorifying His Praises, i.e. prayers and invocations) at the Mash‘ar-il-Harâm . And remember Him (by invoking Allâh for all good.) as He has guided you, and verily, you were, before, of those who were astray.
Abul A'la Maududi (Tafhim)
It is no offence for you to seek the bounty of your Lord during Pilgrimage. When you hasten back from [Arafat then remember Allah at al- Mash[ar al-Haram (i.e. al-Muzdalifah), and remember Him in the manner He has directed you, for before this you were surely in error.

30 - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ -رضي الله عنهما- قَالَ: كَانَتْ عُكَاظٌ وَمَجَنَّةُ وَذُو الْمَجَازِ أَسْوَاقاً فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ الْإِسْلَامُ فَكَأَنَّهُمْ تَأَثَّمُوا فِيهِ، فَنَزَلَتْ {لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ}، فِي مَوَاسِمِ الْحَجِّ ¬أخرجه البخاري برقم: 1770، 2050، 2098، 4519، وأبو داود برقم: 1734، والبيهقي: 4/ 333 - 334، والطبراني: 11213، والطبري برقم: 3769، 3779، 3791، وابن خزيمة برقم: 3054، 3055، وعبد الرزاق في التفسير: 1/ 78، والحاكم: 1/ 49، وسعيد بن منصور برقم: 350، والطحاوي في مشكل الآثار برقم: 3595، 3596، وابن حبان برقم: 3892.¥.
31 - وهناك سبب ثان: عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ التَّيْمِيِّ رَحَمِهُ اللهُ قَال: قُلْتُ لابْنِ عُمَرَ -رضي الله عنهما- إِنَّا نُكْرِي فهَلْ لَنَا مِنْ حَجٍّ؟ قَال: أَلَيْسَ تَطُوفُونَ بِالْبَيْتِ، وَتَأْتُونَ الْمُعَرَّفَ، وَتَرْمُونَ الْجِمَارَ، وَتَحْلِقُونَ رُءُوسَكُمْ؟ قَالَ: قُلْنَا: بَلَى، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمرَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -، فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ الَّذِي سَأَلْتَنِي، فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ، حَتَّى نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلام بِهَذِهِ الآيَةِ: {لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ} فَدَعَاهُ النَّبِيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - فَقَالَ: "أَنْتُمْ حُجَّاجٌ" ¬أخرجه أبو داود برقم: 1733، وأحمد: 2/ 155، وابن جرير في التفسير: 2/ 282، والحاكم: 1/ 449، والبيهقي: 4/ 333، والطيالسي برقم: 259، وابن خزيمة برقم: 3051، والدارقطني: 2/ 292 برقم: 250، 255، والواحدي في أسباب النزول: ص 41، وسعيد بن منصور برقم: 352، وزاد السيوطي عزوه في الدر: 1/ 222 لابن أبي شيبة وابن المنذر، وصححه الحاكم ووافقه الذهبي، وقال ابن كثير في التفسير: 1/ 349: هو قوي جيد، وصححه أحمد شاكر في تعليقه على المسند: 6434، 6435، والشيخ البنا في الفتح الرباني: 18/ 85، والشيخ الألباني.¥.
