Surah An-Nisa — Verse 32

وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا۟ مَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ ۚ لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا ٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ ۖ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا ٱكْتَسَبْنَ ۚ وَسْـَٔلُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًا
Wala tatamannaw ma faddalaAllahu bihi baAAdakum AAala baAAdinlirrijali naseebun mimma iktasaboowalinnisa-i naseebun mimma iktasabnawas-aloo Allaha min fadlihi inna Allahakana bikulli shay-in AAaleema
Translations of this verse 7
Saheeh International
And do not wish for that by which Allāh has made some of you exceed others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allāh of His bounty. Indeed Allāh is ever, of all things, Knowing.

Do not covet what God has given to some of you more than others- men have the portion they have earned; and women the portion they have earned- you should rather ask God for some of His bounty: He has full knowledge of everything.

And covet not the thing in which Allah hath made some of you excel others. Unto men a fortune from that which they have earned, and unto women a fortune from that which they have earned. (Envy not one another) but ask Allah of His bounty. Lo! Allah is ever Knower of all things.

And in no wise covet those things in which Allah Hath bestowed His gifts More freely on some of you than on others: To men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn: But ask Allah of His bounty. For Allah hath full knowledge of all things.

Do not covet something in which Allah has made some of you superior to others. For men there is a share of what they earned, and for women, a share of what they earned. Pray to Allah for His grace. Surely, Allah is All-Aware of everything.

And wish not for the things in which Allâh has made some of you to excel others. For men there is reward for what they have earned, (and likewise) for women there is reward for what they have earned, and ask Allâh of His Bounty. Surely, Allâh is Ever All-Knower of everything.
Abul A'la Maududi (Tafhim)
Do not covet what Allah has conferred more abundantly on some of you than others. Men shall have a share according to what they have earned, and women shall have a share according to what they have earned. Do ask of Allah His bounty. Allah has full knowledge of everything.

قال تعالى: {وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ لِلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِمَّا اكْتَسَبُوا وَلِلنِّسَاءِ نَصِيبٌ مِمَّا اكْتَسَبْنَ وَاسْأَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمًا (32)} [النساء: 32].
103 - عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ - رضي الله عنها - أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: يَغْزُو الرجَالُ وَلَا تَغْزُو النِّسَاءُ، وَإِنَّمَا لَنَا نِصْفُ الْمِيرَاثِ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ} ¬أخرجه الترمذي برقم: 3022، وعبد الرزاق في التفسير 1/ 154، والطبراني في الكبير: 23/ 280 برقم: 609، وأحمد: 6/ 322، والحاكم: 2/ 305، 306، وابن جرير في التفسير برقم: 9241 شاكر، 5/ 30، والواحدي في أسباب النزول: ص 149 - 150، وصححه الحاكم على شرطهما إن كان مجاهد سمعه من أم سلمة، ووافقه الذهبي على تصحيحه، وصححه أحمد شاكر ورد قول الترمذي أن الحديث مرسل، وخلص إلى القول: ثبت عندنا اتصال الحديث وصحته والحمد لله، انظر تعليقه على الطبري، وصححه الألباني في تعليقه على الترمذي وزاد الشوكاني عزوه في فتح القدير: لسعيد بن منصور وعبد بن حميد وابن المنذر والبيهقي. وله شواهد من حديث ابن عباس ومرسل قتادة.¥.
104 - وقد جاء من حديث ابن عباس -رضي الله عنهما- شبيهاً به ¬عزاه ابن كثير في التفسير: 1/ 488 لابن أبي حاتم وإسناده صحيح لغيره، وله شواهد من حديث أم سلمة السابق، ومرسل قتادة وأخرجه ابن جرير في التفسير: 5/ 31.¥.
