Surah Al-Munafiqun — Verse 1
The Hypocrites · 63:1 · 1/11
إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ قَالُوا۟ نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
Itha jaaka almunafiqoonaqaloo nashhadu innaka larasoolu Allahi wallahuyaAAlamu innaka larasooluhu wallahu yashhadu innaalmunafiqeena lakathiboon

Saheeh International
When the hypocrites come to you, [O Muḥammad], they say, "We testify that you are the Messenger of Allāh." And Allāh knows that you are His Messenger, and Allāh testifies that the hypocrites are liars.

When the hypocrites come to you [Prophet], they say, ‘We bear witness that you are the Messenger of God.’ God knows that you truly are His Messenger and He bears witness that the hypocrites are liars––

When the hypocrites come unto thee (O Muhammad), they say: We bear witness that thou art indeed Allah's messenger. And Allah knoweth that thou art indeed His messenger, and Allah beareth witness that the hypocrites indeed are speaking falsely.

When the Hypocrites come to thee, they say, "We bear witness that thou art indeed the Messenger of Allah." Yea, Allah knoweth that thou art indeed His Messenger, and Allah beareth witness that the Hypocrites are indeed liars.

When the hypocrites come to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), they say: "We bear witness that you are indeed the Messenger of Allâh." Allâh knows that you are indeed His Messenger, and Allâh bears witness that the hypocrites are liars indeed.
Abul A'la Maududi (Tafhim)
(O Prophet), when the hypocrites come to you, they say: “We bear witness that you are certainly Allah's Messenger.” Allah certainly knows that you are His Messenger. But Allah also bears witness that the hypocrites are utter liars!

قال تعالى: {إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ قَالُوا نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُ وَاللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَكَاذِبُونَ ( 1) اتَّخَذُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ سَاءَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ (2 ) ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ آمَنُوا ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا فَطُبِعَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ (3) وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ تُعْجِبُكَ أَجْسَامُهُمْ وَإِنْ يَقُولُوا تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُسَنَّدَةٌ يَحْسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيْحَةٍ عَلَيْهِمْ هُمُ الْعَدُوُّ فَاحْذَرْهُمْ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ أَنَّى يُؤْفَكُونَ (4)} [المنافقون: 1 - 4].
302 - عَن زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ - رضي الله عنه - قَالَ: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - فِي سَفَرٍ، أَصَابَ النَّاسَ فِيهِ شِدَّةٌ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أُبَىٍّ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: لَا تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا مِنْ حَوْلِهِ. وَقَالَ: لَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لِيُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ.
فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُبَي، فَسَأَلَهُ فَاجْتَهَدَ يَمِينَهُ مَا فَعَلَ، قَالُوا: كَذَبَ زَيْدٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -، فَوَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي مِمَّا قَالُوا شِدَّةٌ، حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللهُ -عز وجل - تَصدِيقِي فِي: {إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ}، فدَعَاهُمْ النَّبِيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - لِيَسْتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ، فَلَوَّوْا رُؤُوسَهُمْ. وَقَوْلُهُ: {خُشُبٌ مُسَنَّدَةٌ} قَالَ: كَانُوا رِجَالًا أَجْمَلَ شَىْءٍ. واللفظ للبخاري ¬أخرجه البخاري برقم: 4903، ومسلم برقم: 2772، والترمذي برقم: 3312، والنسائي في الكبرى برقم: 11598، وأحمد: 4/ 373، وابن جرير في التاريخ: 3/ 65، وفي التفسير: 28/ 109، والحاكم: 2/ 489. وقد جاء بلفظ آخر عنه، وأخرجه الترمذي برقم: 3313، والحاكم: 2/ 488، والطبراني في الكبير برقم: 5041، والبيهقي في الدلائل: 4/ 54، والواحدي في الأسباب: ص 450 - 451 برقم: 821، وقال الترمذي: حسن صحيح. وهو كما قال، وله شواهد.¥.
